Toward Semiconductor Unicorn Status: Reziena Aims to Develop High-Performance Beauty Devices with Semiconductors

26 Sep 2025

Reziena is a startup specializing in developing at-home medical beauty devices. Founded in 2017 by former Samsung Electronics Medical Equipment Division and LG Electronics Beauty Device Development Team members, the company focuses on leveraging semiconductor technology to create advanced, next-generation, ultra-compact products.

Last year, the company launched its proprietary brand Corethera, aiming to bring hospital-grade medical technology to home-use devices.

Mr. Shin Seung-woo, CEO of Reziena, explained, “We wanted to miniaturize high-end hospital equipment for home use, simplifying complex structures so that anyone can easily use them,” adding that “the compact, all-in-one cartridge design enhances user convenience and accessibility.”

The next-generation product line will incorporate semiconductor-based CMUT (Capacitive Micromachined Ultrasonic Transducer) technology. Reziena was selected for the ‘2025 Next-Generation Startup 1000+ DIPS’ program led by the Ministry of SMEs and Startups and has begun joint development with the Seoul National University System Semiconductor Industry Promotion Center (SPIC).

CMUT, manufactured using semiconductor processes, produces and detects ultrasonic waves through capacitance changes between thin membranes and electrodes. Compared to the company’s existing high-intensity focused ultrasound (HIFU) devices, CMUT offers advantages in miniaturization, mass production, and precise energy control for various skin depths. This allows the development of ultra-compact, portable beauty devices optimized for user convenience.

Building on these technological strengths, Reziena aims to deliver highly sophisticated medical beauty devices that replicate hospital-level precision in home settings. The company independently handles the entire process, from market analysis and product planning to design, manufacturing, and production, while supplying ultrasonic devices and functional cosmetics through ODM and OEM models.

Mr. Shin emphasized, “We plan to expand our technology-centered ODM business and secure a leading position in the global home beauty market.”
